Our commitment
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That means it should work with a keyboard alone, with screen readers, with zoomed text, and with reduced-motion settings — and that words and controls are easy to see and understand.
What we have done
- Full keyboard access: every page, menu and control can be reached and used without a mouse.
- Visible focus: a clear two-colour outline shows exactly where you are on the page.
- Colour contrast: text and background colours are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast.
- Reduced motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, animations are switched off and content simply appears.
- Readable type: generous body text size and line spacing, with plain-English writing.
- A “skip to content” link at the top of every page for keyboard and screen-reader users.
- Descriptive alt text on photographs, and decorative graphics hidden from screen readers.
Known limitations
We would rather be honest than claim perfection. Some things we are still working on:
- Some older photographs may not yet describe every detail in their alt text. We are improving descriptions as photos are updated.
- Content we link to on other websites — such as our Facebook page — is outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
If you find something else that is hard to use, please tell us — it helps us fix it.
Feedback and alternative formats
